Course Overview

The Advanced SQL course provides the building blocks to empower strategic information and technical associates to independently and creatively query databases from their country specific patient management and monitoring systems. This course emphasizes the day-to-day activities of a technical field staff using the IQCare and IQChart databases based in SQL and Ms Access respectively. • Introduction to databases and SQL
  • Data retrieval using the SQL statements
  • Using queries to add or update data in a database
• Introduction to database functions
  • Using functions to summarize/analyze data
  • Data definitions including creating views and updating, inserting data
  • Creating reports in MS Access
  • Creating charts and graphs in MS Access
  • Programming an Access application using Macros
• Moving from Access to SQL server
  • Programming a SQL server database
• Improving query performance using indexes
• Data security and data de-identification
  

Prerequisites

This class is tailored to strategic information and information technology professionals who already know SQL basics and already know how to produce simple reports and data queries. This course builds on the existing SQL knowledge.
